Let the model draw.

Three original drawings, written directly as SVG by GPT-6.1 Sol. Change the palette, isolate a layer, scrub the motion. This is the experiment.

What this suggests for Chocopie

Make editable illustrated motion assets. Characters, empty states, onboarding scenes, product graphics and small interactive components. These examples show a useful direction; three chosen briefs are not a benchmark.

Let the model author expressive SVG with named groups. Store the sanitized vector tree and declarative motion separately. Render, inspect, then patch the parts that need work. Keep precise typed operations for subsequent edits.

Free-form anatomy, photorealism and complex character acting need a separate evaluation. SVG alone does not solve those.

A small harness that helps

Give it the brief, reference images, a palette and canvas dimensions. Let it write a candidate, see a large render, and edit named layers. Use one repair round initially and measure whether more rounds earn their cost.

Support paths, groups, strokes, gradients, clipping and text. Validate local references, strip scripts and external resources, and enforce geometry limits. Motion and interaction come from a constrained runtime.

The current gateway caps a batch at 20 operations and forbids authoring text, gradients and masks. This experiment bypasses that interface.

The economics look plausible

Standard short-context API rates are $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input is $0.10 per million. Official pricing ↗

$0.136 estimated provider cost

Illustrative totals across all calls, including reasoning in billable output. Not measured usage from this session. Hosting, tools, retries and margin are additional. These rates assume standard service and at most 272K input tokens per request.
